Wien 1170 Hernals Photos
Sleepy John and I took a stroll through the 17th district (Hernals) and the adjacent Wienerwald a few months back. These are some photos I took on that stroll.
Wien darf nicht Istanbul werden - Vienna can't become Istanbul. HC Strache is a member of the FPÖ, the Freiheitliche Partei Austria (Austrian Freedom Party). Strache was (is?) runnning for Vienna mayor. The FPÖ is a right wing party. Austrian politics is pretty weird.
Modern (& ugly) church.
Croatian Embassy
Narrow Alleyway
Porsche 911 Turbo
Shaggy Dog

John's on the left, I'm in the center.

How's that for a house?

I think this arch belongs to the yellow house.

You see lots of this around town - graffiti denigrating black Africans accompanied by graffiti (or, as in this case, stickers) denigrating racists. Klappe! Nazi = Shut your trap, Nazi!

Gray House

This building has character.

Colorful Sign

Red Door at the Cape Verde embassy.

Wien 1040 Wieden - Karlsplatz Stadtbahn Pavilion
The Karlsplatz Stadtbahn Pavilion is yet another example of Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) architecture in Vienna. The Pavilion was designed by Otto Wagner, and built in 1898-1899. For more examples of Jugendstil architecture in Vienna, check out the following links: Fillgraderstiege, Schemmerlbrücke, Karl Borromäus Kirche (Karl Lüger Kirche). For more pictures of the area around Karlsplatz, check out this post on the Resselpark Schutzzone
