Salzburg Hohe Festung Photos
Salburg's Hohe Festung (High Fortress) was built to protect the rich, powerful city from invaders.
The fortress is huge, encompassing several fortifications and enclosing a small village.
This sundial, created in 1502, adorns one of the buildings inside the fortress.
The fortress sits at the summit of Mönchsberg (Monk's Mountain), and offers beautiful vistas from all sides.
Behind this wall are the castle and its village.
Take a look at my other Salzburg Photos.

Thanks, Lee! The weather wasn't great that day. I hope to get back to Salzburg this Summer and take some pictures with blue skies and good light. I'm glad you enjoyed these.
